Summer in Preilbrussky is particularly popular amongst
mountain-climbers and tourists, while winter is more popular still and
pulls in tens of thousands of alpine skiers from all around the
world. Preilbrussky is a popular alpine-skiing resort on account of
its magnificent views, long slopes and lasting season. The high
quantity of precipitation guarantees deep snow cover for the whole of the
skiing season.
Despite the region’s popularity amongst alpine-skiers, the network of
cable-car routes is comparatively undeveloped and the length of prepared
(existing) routes is not great. Most places are suitable for going
off-piste and for ski-tourists. The untouched ascents of canyons
Adyl Su and Adyr Su offer great opportunities to ski-tours. These
canyons, even from the thirties of the last century, became original to
the ïîëèãîí of the Soviet and later to Russian mountaineering. – â ñìûñëå?
Èìååòå ëè âû â âèäó âûðàæåíèå– jewel of the crown? Both canyons are
uninhabited, but in the summer there are mountaineering camps set
up.
In springtime our company organizes ski-tours to canyon Adyr Su.
The comparatively (c êåì?) few set routes, long descents, lengthy season
and remoteness from civilization puts the Adyr Su region at the top
amongst other popular places to go off-piste. In the Adyr Su region
we are established on the grounds of Ullu Tau. This is one of the
highest camps set in the Caucasus Mountains and is situated on the very
border of a forest and mountain meadows. The comfortable location of
the camp makes it an ideal place for spring ski-tours.
In April-May comparatively fewer tourists visit Ullu Tau. Of
those visiting at this time, they are mainly skiers who prefer rolling
outside routes, independently climbing the mountains and enjoying the
remoteness from developed tourist areas. At the same time Ullu Tau
offers its guests comfortable living conditions, heating, good food and,
sometimes, even a bath. The staff are also very cordial and
welcoming.
The Adyr Su region is also very popular amongst ski-tourists. The
highest point of passage by road in the canyon is at the Djantougan camp,
which is situated a half-an-hour’s journey from the settlement at Terskol
or the Chegit glade, where the main hotels at Preilbrussky can be
found. Such proximity allows people to complete ski-tours while
staying in cosy hotels in the valley. Ski-tours or tracking in the
Adyl Su and Adyr Su valleys are great preparation for climbing
Elbrus. Usually programmes to climb Elbrus include some days in Adyl
Su and Adyr Su in order to reach the necessary level of
acclimatization.
Fortnightly ski-tour programmes include some preliminary climbs which
go up to an altitude of 4000m. These allow “ðàñõîäèòüñÿ” before
Elbrus, to get to the necessary level of acclimatization, but also simply
to ski well.
